Their fear of being exposed !

Refuses to be audio recorded due to fear of being exposed ?

Over the past several months, Claimant X has attempted to obtain permission from the staff at Sheffield Bailey Court Jobcentre Plus to audio record the official interactions, such as conversations and interviews, s/he has with them. However, all such requests have been denied.

Although the DWP has policy guidelines which appear to permit audio recordings being made by customers within private interview rooms, if requested by the customer, all requests made by Claimant X to do so, have been refused by Idrees Mohammed, a manager of the Sheffield Bailey Court Jobcentre Plus. It appears that Mr Mohammed has not even given due consideration to DWP policy guidelines when refusing requests made by Claimant X, to audio record official interactions with staff at the Sheffield Bailey Court Jobcentre Plus.

Andrew Smith
“I believe that staff at Sheffield Bailey Court Jobcentre Plus are aware of the fact that they are incompetent. I suspected that they were refusing to be audio recorded when interacting with customers due to the fear that their incompetence would be revealed to the entire world. My suspicion was confirmed when Andrew Smith of the Sheffield Bailey Court Jobcentre Plus categorically stated that he did not want to be recorded due to his fear that what he says may have an adverse effect on his job as a Jobcentre Adviser”, Claimant X stated.

Andrew*
“If Jobcentre Plus staff were competent to provide accurate information and correct advice to customers, how could what they say have an adverse effect on their job?”, Claimant X questioned.

Claimant X identified Idrees Mohammed, Angela O’Brian, Andrew Smith, Sue Cooper and two other individuals by the names of Julie and Andrew* as those who were unwilling to be audio recorded when having official conversations with customers.

Claimant X also reiterated that staff at  the Sheffield Bailey Court Jobcentre Plus have refused requests made by her/him to audio record official conversations, even when the conversations were held / to be held within enclosed areas or cubicles, where no other DWP customers were/would be present.

Attempting to hide identity due to fear of being exposed ?

“Not only that, I have also come across staff members from the Sheffield Bailey Court Jobcentre Plus, who don’t wear a name badges or identify themselves as required by DWP policy. When asked for the name, some staff members have refused to provide their name and said that they do not want to provide their name as they do not want to be held accountable if something goes wrong”, Claimant X added.

“This once again proves that the staff at Sheffield Bailey Court Jobcentre Plus are aware of things going wrong, possibly quite a lot, within their Jobcentre Plus. However, they seem to be only interested in protecting themselves from being assigned any blame rather than correcting what's wrong”. Claimant X stated.

Their big lie ?

When Claimant X requested for permission from the management of Bailey Court Jobcentre Plus to audio record official conversations, the reason provided by them to turn down Claimant X’s request was that there was not even a single staff member who was willing to be audio recorded.

Queries directed to the media relations division of the DWP has revealed that if there was no staff member who was willing to be audio recorded by a customer in a particular Jobcentre Plus office and a customer insisted on audio recording their formal interactions with Jobcentre Plus staff, the DWP would attempt to make arrangements to either get a staff member from another Jobcentre or to make arrangements for the interaction to take place in another Jobcentre Plus as long as the claimant was willing to travel.

Idrees Mohammed, a manager of the Bailey Court Jobcentre Plus, has informed Claimant X that Julia McCann, another manager of the Bailey Court Jobcentre Plus, had made enquiries from all the Jobcentre Plus offices in the district, but was unable to find even a single staff member who is willing to be audio recorded when holding a formal conversation with a customer. Claimant X said that s/he found this extremely hard to believe.

Although Idreees Mohammed of the Sheffield Bailey Court Jobcentre Plus has informed Claimant X, (quoting a Julia McCann) that there were no staff members in any of the Jobcentre Plus offices in the entire Sheffield District who are willing to be audio recorded when holding a formal conversation with a customer,  enquiries made by U in Sheffield   revealed this to be untrue.

Maureen Lumsden of the Cavendish Court Jobcentre Plus in Sheffield stated that they have not had a request to be audio recorded in a long time, thereby  raising doubts on  Idrees Mohammed’s statement, that they had enquired from all Jobcentre Plus offices in Sheffield to find a staff member who was willing to be audio recorded when holding a formal conversation with a customer. Furthermore, Mrs Lumsden also stated that she had  provided consent to be audio recorded in the past.

Nick, who was acting on behalf of Anita, the Jobcentre Plus Manager for the Hillsborough Jobcentre Plus in Sheffield stated that he is confident that there would be suitable staff members, including himself, in their Jobcentre, who would be willing to be audio recorded by a customer if a request was made. This again casts serious doubt on Mr Mohammed’s statement that there isn't even one suitable staff member in any of the Jobcentre Plus offices in Sheffield, who is willing to be audio recorded when holding a formal conversation with a customer.
